About

Founded in 2004, the Hannah Peretsman Breene Foundation sponsors weekend and weeknight activities for children who are patients at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ.

Our volunteers play games, do crafts and cook snacks with pediatric patients. Our goal is to help young patients pass the time while they are hospitalized and allow them to play and have fun during what can be a stressful experience.

Foundation volunteers, adults and older teens, currently volunteer  Monday through Friday evenings (6-8 pm), and Saturdays and Sundays during the day (10 am to noon, 1-3 pm and 3-5 pm).

Volunteers are always needed. Teenagers must be 16 or older. All volunteers, adult and teen, must go through the Volunteer Application process at either Saint Barnabas Hospital We ask volunteers to commit to several hours service a month, for at least a full year.  Contact us to get information about becoming a volunteer.

In 2016, the Hannah Peretsman Breene Foundation began funding a new initiative: a cooking program for children at the Newark Beth Israel Wellness Center.  Dieticians teach children from the Newark community about healthy eating, through hands-on cooking lessons in “Hannah’s Kitchen.”   We are excited to help kids in Newark and surrounding areas learn about nutrition, practice cooking skills that they can use throughout their lives  and taste their delicious creations.  Click here to see some of the “Hannah’s Kitchen” recipes.
